“New Jersey and our industry are at an important juncture in the market’s recovery.  We are at a point when the State’s public policies can help to ensure the market continues to grow in a positive direction.  Join me at the March 4 Public Policy Symposium to learn how Trenton’s policies impact your business and be part of the conversations that can lead to meaningful solutions." – Clark Machemer, The Rockefeller Group, NAIOP NJ President

    • Keynote: Senate President Steve Sweeney’s priorities, Transportation Master Plan initiative, and insights on the budget process.

    • NJ continues to lag the nation and region in job creation. Although the Garden State has always touted its highly skilled workforce, is it a “right-skilled” workforce?
    • Industrial/TLD is hot…but also dependent on roads, rail and bridges. How will we solve our transportation infrastructure funding problem?
    • Some employers are having difficulty staffing up, as younger workers cannot afford cars (due to high student loan debt). What should we do to improve and expand mass transit options? Can we bridge the gaps when public transit does not provide direct access for qualified workers at a distance?

    Panel Discussion:

    • Mary K. Murphy, NJTPA
    • Aaron Fichtner, NJ Dept. of Labor
    • Michael Chrobak, Choose New Jersey
    • Jim Kirkos, Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce
    • Gerard Scharfenberger, Former Mayor of Middletown/Office for Planning Advocacy

What do future CRE leaders envision for redevelopment in NJ? Three teams of college students will present their ideas for reimagining a suburban office space to realize its economic potential in today's market. The winners will receive a $5,000 check.

You will also hear from Mayors about the challenges and opportunities faced by NJ towns as they work to create the live/work/play environments that attract and retain employers and the young talent they need.

As NAIOP seeks greater engagement with local officials, we encourage you to invite your mayors, freeholders, council members, town planners, etc. to join you on March 24 to learn what a valuable resource NAIOP can be for towns that are struggling with the impacts of dramatically evolving demographics, market conditions and technology. (Please contact Kathy Iola ASAP to make arrangements for the local officials accompanying you).
